Wooden pens are made out of all kinds of woods - burls, exotics, domestic.  I even cast some woods with resin and have a mixed pen called a Hybrid.  

Historical woods or story woods are woods collected from historical people such as US Presidents, events or places.

Personal story woods are woods that you provide to make a pen with wood that is special to you - Grandpa's cane, the old porch swing, the family barn, that big old tree in grandpa's back yard and on and on!
